Later today, fortnite items will sponsor a 100-person tournament reside at E3 featuring 50 stars and 50 professional streamers, marking the very first large scale tournament for the game coordinated and hosted by Epic itself. Though Epic does not have any news of its own to announce at the show, it's using the championship and Fortnite's popularity to be sure the game stays at the top of everybody's minds through the business's promotion extravaganza this week.

Fortnite's influence on the industry is easily evident at E3, both from an economic point of view and from a game design one. The sport is forcing game studios and publishers to rethink their goods are manufactured, monetizedupdated over time. The game created an estimated $300 million in the month of April completely on in-app purchases of items like theatres, dancing moves, and other cosmetics which have zero effect on your capacity to compete.
News about fortnite's free-to-play model, combined with the inherent popularity of this battle royale genre and Epic's breakneck upgrade cycle, has turned Fortnite to a mega-hit. Now, almost every big publisher is searching for ways to capitalize on the trend while trying to accommodate at the same velocity as Epic. |
