NEW YORK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- China's recent move to tighten the oversight of outbound investment helps promote healthier and more balanced investment in the United States, industry leaders have said.

A latest report on investment relations between the United States and China showed while China's U.S. investments in 2016 tripled the amount seen in 2015, it largely focused on industries like real estate and hospitality.

Chinese investment in real estate reached a new record high, whereas investment in U.S. agriculture and energy remains small, according to the report released last Thursday.

Business executives attributed an imbalanced mix of industries to irrational and illegal outbound investment activities that Chinese authorities have been working hard to curb.

NEW DELHI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The shutdown going on for past over 100 days in Darjeeling town of India's eastern state of West Bengal was called off following an appeal from Home Minister Rajnath Singh, officials said Wednesday.

Normal life in the hill station and adjoining areas resumed Wednesday morning, reports said.

The strike was called by the leaders of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha or GJM (Gorkha Peoples Liberation Front) Nike Dunk Basse Violet Pas Cher , who were spearheading the protests demanding separate state of Gorkhaland to be carved out of West Bengal.
