Saturday, April 9, 2011 (All times Eastern) New York (1-0-2) at Philadelphia (2-1-0), 7 p.m. Chester, PA (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York travels to take on the Philadelphia Union as the two Major League Soccer clubs square off in an Eastern clash at PPL Park on Saturday. The two clubs are currently second and third in the Eastern table in the early going, and both are aiming to stake their claim just four games into the season. Adding to the atmosphere at PPL Park will be the fact that these are the two closest teams in MLS, with just 106 miles between their respective stadiums. The clubs split their two MLS matches in the Unions first year in MLS a year ago, each winning 2-1 at home. New York (1-0-2) is coming off a 1-1 home draw vs. Houston this past weekend, the clubs second straight draw. The Red Bulls were actually down in the game, but second-half substitute Dwayne De Rosario, acquired the day before, came on to set up Dane Richards for the equalizer in the 47th minute. I think he changed the game in the second half with his final pass for the first goal and also the way he controlled our game from the go left, go right, to the straight passes, very comfortable on the ball, New York coach Hans Backe said of De Rosario. He will definitely be a key player for us. Its not an easy transition, I found out [about being traded to New York] about 6 oclock [on April 1] and got in this morning [April 2], but we are professionals and that does happen and I was going to be ready for whatever comes, De Rosario said. The main thing is I was able to help my team get a result and come in the match and help contribute. Its not easy to come into a new team and just gel like that but I was very pleased with our performance in the first half and the second half and we were a bit unlucky to come without three points. De Rosario is expected to start on Saturday after having a week to train with his new team. The Union (2-1-0) are aiming to rebound from their only loss of the season last weekend at Los Angeles. Galaxy defender Leonardo scored the only goal in the game on a set piece which snapped the Union shutout streak to start the season at 213 minutes. I dont think there was enough rhythm with the play from us, Union defender Danny Califf told his clubs website after the game. I think from both sides it was a pretty physical match and things got a little chippy. We werent sharp and it showed. The Galaxy put in a couple of really good set pieces and got a good goal on a set piece. They defended really well and we couldnt figure out how to break them down. Califf will try to help his team try to find its rhythm Saturday despite nursing a knee injury, while midfielder Gabe Farfan is not expected to play with a toe injury. New York will be without defender Chris Albright, who is still missing because of offseason knee surgery, while goalkeeper Greg Sutton is doubtful because of a concussion he suffered last week in training. Kelvin Benjamin Womens Jersey . The delighted Vancouver Whitecaps coach was "lost for words" after his club scored three goals in the first 20 minutes en route to a 3-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. Jerricho Cotchery Womens Jersey . The Jets jumped into a quick 2-0 lead in the first on goals by Zach Bogosian (3rd) and Devin Setoguchi (9th) 1:05 apart. Toby Enstrom and Andrew Ladd drew assists on the Bogosian goal, a point shot that seemed to dip and get by former Moose goaltender Eddie Lack. http://www.shopthepanthersonline.com/Elite-Greg-Olsen-Panthers-Jersey/ . The Stars were up 3-1 in the third. Stars and Jets will meet at the MTS Centre Sunday night (TSN Jets, TSN 1290) in what is a must win for the Jets. The Jets and Stars will meet in Dallas later this month, the Stars have two games in hand. Dwan Edwards Jersey . A Swiss Federal Tribunal ruling published Friday said that FIFAs disputes panel and the Court of Arbitration for Sport correctly imposed the sanction for Nantes enticing Guinea forward Ismael Bangoura to break his contract with Dubai club Al Nasr in January 2012. Dwan Edwards Elite Jersey . Justin Dowling, Travis Morin and Francis Wathier also scored for the Stars (22-10-5), who bypassed Abbotsford for top spot in the West Division, and Mike Hedden tacked on two assists. Defenceman John Ramage was a team-worst minus-4 for the Heat (23-13-2), who dropped their fourth game in a row. PHILADELPHIA -- The cheers started when Tony Gwynn Jr. walked to the batters box, grew louder when he was introduced as a pinch-hitter and turned into a standing ovation when catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia went to the mound. On a night when the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 7-4, the fans reaction to Gwynn trumped the scoreboard. Gwynn grounded out in the eighth inning Tuesday night in his first at-bat since his father, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, died last week. Though hes batting just .153 in his first season in Philadelphia, fans showed the younger Gwynn some love. "Thats why guys who play here like to play here," Gwynn said. "When things are going well, or regardless of whether theyre going bad or good, I think the fans stay behind us. Much appreciated by the Gwynn family." Saltalamacchia prolonged the ovation by purposely going to the mound, a move Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg called "classy." "I dont know what it must be like to lose a father, especially a guy who brought so much to this game," Saltalamacchia said. Marlon Byrd hit a two-run homer and David Buchanan threw five effective innings to help the Phillies snap a three-game losing streak. Buchanan (4-3) allowed two runs and six hits. The rookie right-hander struck out Marcell Ozuna on a 3-2 changeup with two runners on and two outs in the fifth, preserving a 4-2 lead. He pumped his fist and shouted as he walked off the mound. "I was pumped getting through that inning and not letting it escalate," Buchanan said. Miamis Garrett Jones hit a two-run homer off B.J. Rosenberg in the eighth. Jonathan Papelbon tossed a scoreless ninth for his 18th save in 20 tries. Andrew Heaney (0-2) gave up five runs and four hits in five-plus innings in his second career start for the Marlins. After being shut out Monday for the 10th time this season and seventh time in their last 25 home games, the Phillies jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning. Jimmy Rollins was hit by a pitch leading off and Chase Utley walked one out later. On a double steal, Saltalamacchias throw tto third bounced away for an error and Rollins scored to snap the teams 21-inning scoreless streak at Citizens Bank Park, dating to June 15.dddddddddddd After Ryan Howard struck out, Byrd hit a 419-foot shot out to left-centre to make it 3-0. "Hes a strong guy and he works very hard," Sandberg said. "Byrdie is one of the first at the ballpark and he prepares. He loves to hit and hes strong. He stays in great shape and he keeps his power stroke. Hes a threat every time he comes up." Cody Asche lined a two-run double in the sixth and scored on Bryan Morris wild pitch for a 7-2 lead. Rollins had two steals to move into a tie with Hall of Famer Ed Delahanty for second place on the clubs career list with 438. Rollins finished 2 for 2 and also walked. It was his first multi-hit game since May 30, even though hes hit safely in 20 of his last 22 games, including a 15-game hitting streak. The Marlins got a run in the second when Utley dropped Ed Lucas infield fly with the bases loaded, allowing Saltalamacchia to score from third. Utley dropped another pop-up in the eighth, but it turned into a fielders choice. Ben Revere hit a triple and scored on a wild pitch to give the Phillies a 4-1 lead in the second. After Giancarlo Stantons second double of the game put runners on second and third in the fifth, Casey McGehees sacrifice fly cut it to 4-2. NOTES: The Phillies signed OF Grady Sizemore to a minor league contract. The three-time All-Star was released by Boston on June 18. "We needed more production from our outfield," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. Sizemore is expected to join the Phillies after playing in Triple-A. ... Injured Phillies ace Cliff Lee said he felt fine after a bullpen session. Hes hoping to return before the All-Star break. ... Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria had an MRI that revealed a right triceps strain. He could land on the disabled list. ... Miami had four wild pitches, tying a club record. ... A.J.
