"I came here for breaking the world record. I am very excited and very thrilled to win this medal，" Deng said.

"When I woke up this morning， I felt nervous， because it was my first Olympic Games. I have been targeting a gold medal for a long time， so I am very happy with this，" Deng added.

Shi， winner at the world championships in 2015， snatched 162kg and jerked 190kg for the gold in his category.

"This is not just important for me， but for my whole team. I would like to dedicate this medal to my team and coaches who give me confidence， love， courage and support，" Shi said.

Elsewhere， 10-time world gymnastics titlist Simone Biles notched up her first Olympic gold as she led the United States to a convincing victory in the women's team event.

"I think we are so successful because whenever we got to do our team event we believe in ourselves and our team believe in each other. That's what helps us do our best in all the work. It has not been easy but we have done everything that we could possibly done to get to where we are，" said the 19-year-old Biles.
