ABBOTSFORD, B.C. -- Benn Ferrieros familiar with scoring important goals, just not in back-to-back games. Ferriero scored the overtime goal for the second-straight night to lift the Utica Comets to a 4-3 win over the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League action Saturday. "Ive never scored two in a row like that, but Ive scored a couple OT winners in my career in college and pro," said Ferriero. "It feels good to help the team like that." Ferriero took advantage of Chris Breens broken stick at the Abbotsford blue-line, burst past the lone defender and buried a slap shot top corner on goalie Joey MacDonald. "They had a good rush going there but they got a little unlucky when (Breen) broke his stick," said Ferriero. "I saw there was the one D man that I thought I could catch. (Yann) Sauve made a great pass to me. Im pretty happy about that one." The 26-year-old right-winger is red-hot. Besides also scoring the only goal in Fridays 1-0 win against the Heat, he has five goals in as many games and 10 points during an eight-game point streak. After signing with the Vancouver Canucks in the summer, hes played just two games for the Comets NHL affiliate. Even though Abbotsford is in the Canucks backyard -- just an hour east -- he thinks his consistency will be what gets him back the sports top level. "Youve got (their presence) in the back of your head, but you cant control anything, except how you play out there," said Ferriero, who has 31 points in 39 games this season. "This year Im really trying to work on consistency and bringing it every single night." Alex Grenier scored twice for the Comets, but like Ferriero, he says he doesnt like to dwell on that either. "Maybe a little, its a bit different, but youve got to concentrate and play your game," said Grenier, Vancouvers 2011 third-round choice. "Theyre not looking for guys who are better here than anywhere else. We just give it everything and hope its enough." Brandon DeFazio had the other Comets goal, while Pascal Pelletier had two assists for Utica (15-20-5), which has won four straight. "It was a real tight game, tight-checking, feisty," said Ferriero. "We knew coming in, since we beat them a couple times in a row. They pushed back and responded from the beginning." Joacim Eriksson made 23 saves in the win. Max Reinhart and Markus Granlund each had a goal and an assist for Abbotsford (26-14-4) and Brett Olson also scored. MacDonald made 35 saves in the losing effort, though his coach says he doesnt blame him for the overtime goal. "The game-winning goal was a great goal," said Heat head coach Troy Ward. "That would have gone in in the NHL. That was a goal-scorers goal. He had one intent, and that was to shoot it as hard as he could. He did that, and I give that guy a lot of credit." The Comets opened the scoring 2:05 into the game. After a lively dump into the Abbotsford zone, Jordan Schroeder chipped the puck to the front of the net where DeFazio swept it past MacDonald with a backhander for his fifth of the season. Granlund, however, evened the score with a power-play goal at 7:42. He took a feed from Reinhart and beat Eriksson with a wrist shot glove side for his 17th of the year. Despite failing to score on a two-man advantage earlier in the second period, the Comets regained the lead at 7:51. Pelletier chipped the puck in front, where Grenier turned and quickly beat MacDonald blocker side for his 14th of the season. "Pelletier made really nice plays to me," said Grenier, "I was fortunate to be there but Pascal made all the plays there." The Heat drew even at 10:52 while killing a penalty for too many men. Granlund fanned on his shot attempt on a two-on-two rush, but Reinhart redirected the puck past the Comets netminder for his ninth of the season. Olson scored at 7:18 to give the Heat their first lead of the night. Olsons forecheck pressured Yann Sauve into coughing up the puck at the face-off dot. Olson pounced, walked in on Eriksson and went short side for his seventh of the year and his first point in 14 games. The Comets, however, evened the score at 11:13. Pelletier forced John Ramage to give it up behind the net and Grenier was there to bury his second of the game. Then, at 1:10 of overtime Ferriero netted the winner. "That was an unbelievable shot, one of the best Ive ever seen," said Grenier. "Im really happy for Benny. Hes been one of our key players for the season." Penny Hardaway Jersey . -- Packers cornerback Tramon Williams has been fined $26,250 for contact with an official, per NFL guidelines. Michael Jordan USA Jersey . 31 as the deadline to submit an Olympic hockey roster, the deadline has changed. After appeals from some top European countries - namely Russia, Sweden, Finland and Czech - over the past 24 hours, the National Hockey League, NHL Players Association and the IIHF agreed to move the date to Jan. http://www.nbaofficialonline.com/Team-USA-Authentic-Lebron-James-Jersey/ . Hell be hard-pressed to match an unbeaten streak like this, though. Tanaka had his unbeaten regular-season run snapped at 42 starts, allowing a career-high four runs in six innings, and the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Yankees 6-1 on Tuesday night. Kyrie Irving Jersey . More than a month after signing the free agent centre, Bynum is expected to make his debut with Indiana on Tuesday night against Boston. DeMar DeRozan Jersey . -- Jayce Hawryluks second goal of the game with 29 seconds left lifted the Brandon Wheat Kings past the Regina Pats 5-4 in Western Hockey League play Wednesday.TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona coach Sean Miller rose from his seat every time Roberto Nelson touched the ball and yelled "Shooter!" He could have been talking about his own team, too. Playing with confidence at both ends, No. 2 Arizona found its shooting touch and hounded Nelson, the Pac-12s leading scorer, into a rough night to race past Oregon State 76-54 on Sunday. "Overall, it was a very good team performance," Miller said. "We did it at both ends." Arizona looked hesitant against Oregon on Thursday night, its first game since forward Brandon Ashley went out for the season with a right foot injury. The Wildcats (23-1, 10-1 Pac-12) had no such trouble against Oregon State, finding answers for their shooting woes while dominating in nearly every aspect. Arizona shot 50 per cent for the first time in six games, had a 40-12 advantage in the paint and 15 assists with eight turnovers. The Wildcats also outrebounded the Beavers 39-24, including a 15-4 advantage on the offensive glass that led to 13 points. Aaron Gordon led Arizona with 17 points and fellow freshman Rondae Hollis-Jefferson provided his usual hustling spark while scoring 16. T.J. McConnell added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats, who bounced back from their grinding victory over the Ducks with a terrific all-around effort for their 30th win in the last 31 games against the Beavers at McKale Center. "We played well tonight," McConnell said. "We were clicking on offence and I felt like we were playing well on defence." They sure were, particularly against Nelson. The Beavers (13-10, 5-6) rallied in the second half against Arizona State in their previous game behind Nelson, but had little chance against the athletic Wildcats, unable to spring him or chip away at Arizonas 10-point halftime lead. The nations 10th-leading scorer, Nelson was held to 10 points -- 12 below his average -- on 3-of-12 shooting. The rest of the Beavers did little to pick up the slack, shooting 8 of 24 in the second half and 39 per cent overall. Angus Brandt led the Beavers with 14 points. "Its disappointing that we didnt play better, especially since we have been playing better," Oregon State coach Craig Robinson said. "I dont think we came out with our best effort and I want to take the blame for that." Shooting has been Arizonas problem in recent weeks. The Wildcats shot 37 per cent over the past four games and hit 18 of 70 (25 per cent) from 3-point range.dddddddddddd Arizona won four of those five games behind its defence, particularly with big stops late. The Wildcats did it against Oregon in their last game as they struggled offensively without Ashley, shutting down the Ducks in the final 3 minutes to win 67-65 on Thursday after trailing most of the second half. Arizona had some shooting woes early against Oregon State, but rallied quickly behind Gordon and Hollis-Jefferson. Gordon scored in a variety of ways, getting a tip-in, a coast-to-coast drive after a steal and dropping in his first 3-pointer since Dec. 19, a no-hesitation shot from the corner. He had 11 points at the half. Hollis-Jefferson scored on a turnaround in the post to open the game and scored nine points by halftime behind his always-on-the-gas style. Arizona closed the first half on a 12-3 run and hit 16 of 29 shots to lead 37-27. Gordon opened the second half with an ill-advised toss that went off the top of the backboard in an attempt to dunk that sent Miller sprawling back in his seat in disgust. Gordon followed with the kind of move that has him projected as one of the top NBA draft picks when he leaves Tucson: a behind-the-back dribble through the lane that left his defender flatfooted and led to an easy layup. The rest of the Wildcats kept rolling, too, stretching the lead while showcasing what they can do even without Ashley in the lineup. "Today, we couldnt stop them," Robinson said. "This is a good team. Its fun to watch when you arent getting beat by them." Oregon State rallied behind Nelson against Arizona State on Thursday night before losing in overtime. The Beavers had no comeback in them this time, and Nelson struggled all night He scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half against Arizona State, but had a hard time finding room to shoot against Arizona. Hounded by Johnson and McConnell, who got plenty of help on screen switches, Nelson had four points on 2-of-8 shooting in the first half. He continued to labour against Arizonas pressure, going more than 10 minutes of the second half before getting off his first shot attempt. He missed all three of his 3-point tries in the game. "It was a team effort on Nelson and we did a great job on him," McConnell said. And just about everyone else. cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
