Former British Olympian Sebastian Coe was elected the new president of the world athletics governing body on Wednesday  Air Max 90 Triple White , beating former Ukrainian Olympic pole vaulter Sergey Bubka at the 50th IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) Congress in Beijing.

The IAAF is facing a growing crisis over doping after British newspaper The Sunday Times and German broadcaster ARDWDR reported that the IAAF had failed to follow up on suspicious blood tests involving over 5,000 athletes -between 2001 and 2012. Last week, the IAAF temporarily suspended 28 -athletes who competed at the 2005 and 2007 worlds after their retested samples showing ""adverse findings.""

Coe, 58, vowed ""zero tolerance"" to doping abuses and wants to establish a fully independent anti-doping agency.

""There is zero tolerance to doping abuses in my sport, and I maintain that to the very highest level of vigilance,"" Coe told a news conference after being elected.

He then shrugged off skepticism over the current anti-doping team  Air Max 90 Triple Black , saying ""they are the best at what they do.""

""I have espoused the concept of an independent testing process. That isn't in any way to question the technical or professional ability of our teams in -Monaco.""

But he also said that changes cannot happen at once.

""I would not have thrown by hat into the ring if I felt that I would be shortchanging this organization,"" said Coe.

""I don't want the thought that trust and integrity are only something rooted in challenges around doping in sports or doping in track and field. There is a universal problem with that in sports and we recognize that, and we have been -taking the lead for as long as I've been in the sport,"" Coe added.

The 1980 Olympic 1,500-meter champion also thanked Bubka.

""Thanks, Sergey, for what has been a very long  Air Max 90 Red , arduous campaign. I think it gives the sport a chance to review itself, renew itself, to think about what the next 40, 50 years will look like,"" Coe said.

Bubka was re-elected as a vice-president of the IAAF.

Coe headed the successful London bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and was the chairman of the London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.

The engagement of the youth in the sport also takes a place in Coe's reform policies, and to help support young athletes in making positive and beneficial decisions for their careers.

Senegal's Lamine Diack, 82  Air Max 90 Pink , who is stepping down after 16 years in charge, said athletics is ""in safe hands.""

""The white-haired generation has done what it can, now it's over to the black-haired generation,"" said Diack, who decided to call it quits last year.

Coe will assume the presidency on August 31 after the end of the World Championships, which starts Saturday.

""I will do everything in my human capability that our sport maintains the values and strong legacy, and very  Air Max 90 Blue , very firm foundation Diack has left me with,"" Coe said.

Coe is currently not a member of the IOC, but winning the election means he will replace Diack as an IOC member.

Also on Wednesday, China's Du -Zhaocai was elected as an individual member of the IAAF.

GUANGZHOU, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Two bodies have been retrieved and three people remain missing in the shipwreck off the coast of southern China's Guangdong Province.

Two cargo ships, loaded with about 5,000 tonnes of steel and sand respectively  Air Max 90 White , collided at dawn Monday, causing one to sink, according to provincial maritime authorities.

Twelve people were aboard during the collision, and seven were rescued.

Forty-seven divers have been sent to search for the missing sailors at the mouth of the Pearl River.

Sea traffic in the area is still blocked.

One of the seven rescued sailors has been discharged from hospital, while one is under intensive care.

BOGOTA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Tuesday oversaw the final withdrawal of weapons handed over by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels.

At a ceremony in the rural outskirts of Fonseca, a town in the northern province of Guajira, Santos said the shipment marked "the last breath of the conflict" between the rebels and government forces, which had lasted 53 years.

"With this disarmament, with (the withdrawal) of the last containers, the conflict truly ends and a new phase begins in the life of our nation  Air Max 90 ," Santos said.

The president was accompanied by the head of the United Nations mission in Colombia, Jean Arnault, as well as FARC representatives.

"Eight months after signing a (peace) agreement, we are witnessing the conclusion of the disarmament," Santos said, adding that the process was carried out in a "record time."

Arnault confirmed that the FARC had been completely disarmed. The UN mission has withdrawn 8,112 pieces of weapons and nearly 1.3 million cartridges of ammunition from the rebels and then incinerated them.

The operation also involved extracting thousands of other weapons and munitions from FARC camps and hideouts  Cheap Nike Air Max 90 Triple White , including more than 22 tons of explosives, 1,846 antipersonnel mines and 3,957 hand grenades.
