And what do you do with the PSP until that one game you've been waiting for comes out? Just like its big brother the PlayStation 2, the PSP can do more than just play games.
Some of the PSP's extra features will be more useful than others, but it's pretty cool that it has them at all, and each new system update adds new things to play with.
1) Listen to Music:
The PSP is a multimedia player which can play video as well as audio files much like an iPod. With a PC, a USB cable, and a memory stick, you can download your music to your PSP and listen on the road. You will probably need a bigger memory stick than the one that comes in the box, but they're getting cheaper every day.

2) Watch Movies:
According to some few reports, sales of movies in the PSP's UMD format are higher than sales of games. Regardless, the PSP makes a nifty portable movie player. With the system update version 2.0, an internet browser was added to the PSP's features. Another time, I had to sneak around in a dark room in which my roommate was sleeping. I couldn't have found what I was looking for without waking her if it were not for my PSP.
6) PSP Keyboard Mod:
Though not very practical, the homebrew PSP keyboard mod allows users to create and save text files. Apparently Logic 3 has been trying to develop a keyboard for the PSP for some time but they have been beaten to it by a homebrew hacker http://www.intermilanfcstore.com/c-30-ever-banega-inter-milan-fc-jersey.aspx , whose new application allows you to save short notes as .txt files on your console
7) PSPhone:
That is right, a modder has managed to create a custom phone chip for the PSP, which amazingly enough, is able to receive incoming calls, and display the current signal strength.
Though currently unable to make outgoing calls, PSPhone is also capable of communicating over both CDMA & GSM cellular networks. I am still working on how to resize it and get it into a mass production.
The pack will contain:
X1 antenna
X1 board
headsets with microphone
X2 wires
X1 32 mega memory stick
The antenna to connect to the local network. On the board will be a switch to switch between CDMA network (without sim card) and the GSM network (with the sim card). The wires are to connect the board and the antenna to the PSP. All will cost approximately more or less than $60. |
