This price information comes to us  Louis Vuitton Outlet via ILVoeLV.com, which is a reliable source of intel on Vuitton's machinations, especially when it comes to handbags. The bag includes two finishes of croc and measures slightly over a foot wide at its largest point. There's no word on how many of these bags will be made, but it's likely to be an extremely limited piece. After all, only so many people can afford to buy a bag that costs more than 50 grand in the first place.
On top of that, the bag has a, uh, very specific aesthetic. Most bags in this price range are simply exotic recreations of designs that the buying public has already embraced with open arms, like the Givenchy Antigona or Fendi 2Jours, but this Louis Vuitton Luggage one is an untested bag shape from new creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere's first collection for the brand. The bag is easily more expensive than any of the other seasonal offerings we found online for Fall 2014, although I'd be shocked if it were made available via Vuitton's website.
Here's Nicky Hilton, headed to lunch at The Smile in downtown Manhattan, carrying a Louis Vuitton Trompe L'oeil Trocadero Bag, which, according to our research, seems to date all the way back to Fall 2006. I'd like to think she pulled this one out of the archives just for us. In any case, this Trocadero looks great with her simple little black dress and eye-popping animal print sandals.
Nicky has two truly splendid editions of "The Many Bags" (which you can view here and here), Louis Vuitton Wallets but I don't think we saw this particular Louis Vuitton bag in either one of them. Which begs the question: is Nicky holding out on us?! Oh, what we wouldn't do in exchange for a full guided tour of her handbag stash. (Are you listening, Nicky? Let's make this happen.)
It was rumored from the beginning that Lagerfeld, perhaps the project's most surprising participant, would make a punching bag, and not only that, but it'll come in three sizes, hang with handbag-like straps on its included stand and also function as a regular handbag. For more serious training, a full-size punching bag and storage trunk, both covered in monogram canvas, are Louis Vuitton Sunglasses also available for an undisclosed price. To finish out the theme, a set of boxing gloves and their weekender-like case are also part of Lagerfeld's capsule collection.
Louboutin and Sherman went in particularly colorful directions with their contributions, while Kawakubo was as weird as you'd expect her to be and Gehry was duly architectural. Newson's fleece-paneled backpacks were easily the most wearable of bags in the collection, a sensibility that should serve him well at his new employer: Apple.
If you didn't like the Twist Bag that Ghesquiere debuted for Resort 2015, your feelings might be less enthusiastic. Although its raised, tubular LV logo still feels clunky to me, everything else about the bag is pretty good. Perhaps more importantly, it doesn't feel like something Marc Louis Vuitton Shoes Jacobs would have made, and that's vital for a brand looking for a new direction and new excitement. A particularly interesting series of Twist bags were made of Epi leather with significant color variation, which is a first for one of the brand's most popular materials. |
